3.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Disappointing, May 16, 2011

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Video Game)
Speaking as someone who has both Indiana Jones Lego Games, the Star Wars Lego with all 6 films, plus the Star Wars Clone Wars Lego, and Harry Potter Lego, this game was definitely a bit disappointing. First of all, the graphics are not as high of quality as the other games, especially in the little clips between each level. They're blurry and pixelated, which is not at all up to standards.

The concept of the game is about the same as the others. Go through each level collecting the various items, knuts, etc. in order to get to 100% and purchase characters and red legos. The levels are actually a lot shorter than in the other games, and hardly seem to take up any time at all. This is a bit disappointing, and yes, makes it easier to save the game if you have to do something else, but the other ones have much longer levels, especially since there are only 4 levels per movie in this game.

Another huge disappointment had to be the lack of minigames. Most of the lego... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the Lego games!, June 8, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Video Game)
My son is almost 5 years old and i primarily bought this game for him. He has several other DS games, but only the Lego is the Star Wars version. The Star Wars game was much easier for him to play and figure out on his own without much help. The game play was more intuitive, as you see a 'locked' door with a picture of the character that you need to be to open it.

My son initially found this game much more difficult to play. It is my fault i admit, i didnt notice the E for everyone rating with the 10+. Anyway, after the first week he wasn't much interested in it. But after i showed him a bit of the game play ( i love the game myself ) he is playing it well. He still occasionally needs help when he is stuck with one of the puzzles or cant figure out what to do next, but overall he loves it.

As for the comments about the blurry graphics in the cut scenes they are correct. Its not a reason to avoid the game, but is a bit disappointing. They could have definitely... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy brain candy after a hard day...., June 9, 2011

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Video Game)
I've played Lego Indiana, Star Wars and Harry Potter. This is the easiest of all of them, making it perfect after work brain-melter.

Stories: Hard to follow. They are extremely abridged and altered that its almost hard to distinquish that they are from the franchise.

Levels: Four movies, half having only four levels each.

Game play / challenge: This game does not get progressively harder. There is much redundancy (herding pigs, herding crabs, picking up stones) without increased challenge. The game tells you which player to choose for certain situations. The machines / mechanisms you use don't change and it is very easy to figure out what you need to do.

Overall: I think they short-changed the Lego franchise and the Pirates franchise by scrimping on the game play. They cut this game short. Harry Potter had so many levels and was so inventive on some of the tasks you needed to complete. This doesn't have any of it.

Pirates is a... Read more
