5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the wait!, August 24, 2011

For fans of the original Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible War was a big letdown. Although the game in itself was good, there was no way it would hold up to the richness that Deus Ex brought to the PC in 2000. So, how would Deus Ex: Human Revolution hold up the vast amount of hype surrounding its four-year creation?

First, to answer to one of the only real complaints I've heard from gamers: lack of multiplayer functionality. One must realize that the Deus Ex series was never intended to be a multiplayer series. One of my biggest complaints about games that are created more so for multiplayer than solo is that so much work is put into the multiplayer features that the solo aspect of the game becomes mediocre, if not pathetic. In my opinion, this has plagued many games, from the Halo series to most of the Call of Duty games. People don't buy these to play the one-player scenario tract; people buy these games so they can get online and challenge other people that own the game. If... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, fun and a little disappointed., September 9, 2011

This review is from: Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Video Game)
I have played this game through twice now and something that confused me about what other reviewers have stated; the lack of ammo. The storage was only designed to hold 2 maybe 3 weapons tops. NOT every weapon in the game. When I finished the game I had over 350 rounds of 10mm and 300 rounds of LMG rounds. Ammo is not an issue if one manages their inventory correctly.

So here is my review:

Animation was par. Unnatural movements, even to characters that did not have augs, while speaking drove me insane. The world itself was very nice; as stated Blade Runner type of environment. The cut scenes were very nice also. All-in-all not the greatest imagery, but definitely not the worse.

Game play was solid. Lots of ways to complete a scenario, just as long as you get it done. The boss fights didn't fit right and I was expecting them to get tougher as I played, not easier. Stealth pretty much through the entire game.

Story lines were incomplete at... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The Revolution Begins..Will You Be Part of It?..., August 23, 2011

The original Deus Ex(DX) hit the market back in 2000 and with its combination of a Cyberpunk atmosphere and fusion of RPG and FPS elements, became a hit title that eventually won game of the year amongst many other awards. The game was ahead of its time in a way, similar to how Blade Runner (the movie) was ahead of its time for back in the 1980's. With this new release, DX: HR, does the game fall into mediocrity or does DX continue to be a a beautiful melody of various gameplays in an immerse environment?.... A few technical details aside, I would say this game easily marks a new generation in the Deus Ex line and could just be one of the best SP based campaign game released in 2011.

GAMEPLAY
And a whole lot of it! This game is massive and the cyberpunk vision of the future is captured beautifully. DX:HR I feel, tends to be a blend of FPS meets Stealth meets Espionage meets Social. You play as Adam Jensen who is a security officer for an Augmentation company... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The Madden for people who dislike the newer PS3/360 Versions, August 19, 2010
By
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Madden NFL 11 (Video Game)
First of all, I have to comment on all of the remarks people have been making lately about sports video games being carbon copies of the past year's game (with maybe a few tweaks here and there and a new cover athlete being the only differences). They first discover a game that they like, give it 5 stars; then 3 years later the same franchise hasn't evolved enough for their liking, so they give 2 stars to virtually the same game that they were giving 5 stars to a few years ago. The people who complain about this "lack of innovation" issue sound like they were born yesterday. This is how it's ALWAYS been with EA Sports games. It was the same thing back in the days of the Super Nintendo, when I was in high school. I remember remarking to my buddies back then how similar Madden '95 was to Madden '94, and how similar NBA Live '96 was to NBA Live '95. There seems to be this growing myth that EA used to be this great, innovative company, and now they are just lazy bums who rest on... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Not without it's flaws but still surprisingly good compared to the PS3 version, August 15, 2010
By
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Madden NFL 11 (Video Game)
Since I still don't have a PS3 myself I've gone ahead and picked up this year's version of Madden on the PS2. Having played a friend's copy of the PS3 version I must say that I'm actually quite surprised over the quality of the PS2 version. Overall not much has changed since Madden 2006 on the PS2/original X-Box. However that isn't exactly a bad thing. The general flaws that people are complaining about are nowhere to be found on the PS2 version of Madden 2011. However seeing that the PS2 seems to finally be entering it's last days there are a few things to be aware of. First and foremost is the fact that there are no online features in the PS2 version of Madden. While I'm not big on online play due to the number of people who will quit a game when they are losing I do however wish it was there for roster updates. As a result don't expect to see TO on the Bengals or other various trades and transactions that occured in the week or so before release. For that I've got to mark the game... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars It is what it is..., August 10, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Madden NFL 11 (Video Game)
I've reviewed this twice but I have a final verdict on the game. MADDEN 11 for PS2 is something to appreciate once you get past a few things. Yes, the online capability is no longer available but if you don't play online, there's nothing to miss. The game has roster updates and players that weren't on last year's game and that used to be the main reason to get the new games anyway. Players like T.O. are in the free agent pool because the game was released prior to preseason. You don't need online to fix this. Just make a few roster tweaks yourself. The game still looks good for the PS2 and there aren't as many hangups as the PS3 or XBOX. There is new music (as always) and new commentary with Gus Johnson. This adds SOME freshness to the game. The A.I. is actually better in this one and you can adjust it to your taste. All-Pro level actually seems more difficult and it is a fun challenge.

Overall. it is a nuts and bolts football game. But it is great for individual play as... Read more
